Tajut

HistoryTajut was created to tell the story of Friuli Venezia Giulia, one of Italy’s most celebrated regions for great white wines. The name comes from the Friulian language: a tajut is the glass of wine enjoyed at the osteria, a small everyday ritual of conviviality that marks the rhythm of days spent among friends. Here the landscape is an ongoing dialogue between mountains and sea: the Julian Alps shelter the vineyards from cold northern winds, while breezes from the Adriatic temper the climate and dry the grape clusters. This balance has shaped a borderland where Latin, Slavic and Central European cultures have met for centuries, leaving a deep mark on its winemaking tradition as well. Tajut moves respectfully within this history, guided by a simple idea: to let the place speak for itself, bottle after bottle.

History
Tajut was created to tell the story of Friuli Venezia Giulia, one of Italy’s most celebrated regions for great white wines.

Vineyard
In the vineyard, Tajut works on hillsides of marl and sandstone soils, the renowned ponca, which retains water and releases precious mineral salts to the vines. Marked temperature swings between day and night encourage slow ripening and preserve aromas and freshness. Native varieties such as Friulano and Ribolla Gialla take center stage, alongside international varieties that have found a second home here. Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, so that only healthy, intact fruit reaches the cellar.

Wines
Tajut’s wines are the result of careful winemaking, with gentle pressing and temperature-controlled fermentation to safeguard the varietal identity of each grape. On the nose, the whites reveal aromas of white-fleshed fruit, wildflowers and herbaceous notes, while the reds play on small dark berries and spice. On the palate they are fresh and savory, with a long, mineral finish. The range spans from approachable, easy-drinking wines to more structured expressions, a faithful portrait of the Friulian hills.
